What Fees Does Shopee Charge Sellers?

Shopee sellers pay three layers of fees in 2026: a commission fee (1–10% by market, category and seller tier), a transaction fee (1–4% on every successful order), and optional service fees (~3% each) for joining the Free Shipping Programme or the Coins Cashback Programme. Together these typically take 5–20% of every sale. Our calculator above models all three across the six Shopee markets and three seller tiers.

Shopee Commission Rates by Market & Tier (2026)

Commission is the biggest fee on Shopee and varies sharply between markets and tiers. The table below shows representative ranges for the most common categories. Mall sellers always pay more than Non-Mall sellers in return for the trust badge, priority placement, and higher conversion rates.

Thailand1–7%1–6%3–9%3.21%
Vietnam1–4%1–4%3–7%4.0%

Rates are GST/VAT-inclusive where applicable and represent typical ranges; the exact rate Shopee charges depends on the leaf-level category, your seller tier, and any active promotions. For the official per-category schedule see Shopee SG seller fees or your local Shopee Seller Centre.

How Do I Calculate Shopee Fees?

For most markets, total Shopee fees ≈ (commission% + transaction%) × order total, plus 3% per active service programme. For a Singapore Non-Mall fashion seller listing at S$50, the maths is roughly: 5% commission (S$2.50) + 2.18% transaction (S$1.09) = S$3.59, or about 7.2% of the sale. Add the Free Shipping Programme and Coins Cashback and the take rate climbs to around 13%. The calculator above does this instantly for whichever market and tier you select.

How Much Does Shopee Take From a S$100 Sale?

For a S$100 fashion item sold by a Singapore Non-Mall seller with both optional programmes off: 5% commission (S$5.00) + 2.18% transaction (S$2.18) = S$7.18 in Shopee fees, or about 7.2%. A Mall seller at the 10.9% commission cap pays about S$13.08 (13.1% take rate). With Free Shipping (+3%) and Coins Cashback (+3%), a Mall seller's effective take rate climbs to roughly 19% on the same S$100 item. This is why factoring in every fee before pricing your products is critical.

New Sellers: 90-Day Commission-Free Window

Shopee Singapore (and several other markets) waives commission for the first 90 days of a new shop, up to 500 orders per month in 2026. During this window you only pay the transaction fee and any service fees you opt into. This is the cheapest moment in your Shopee lifecycle to test pricing, run a launch campaign, and capture reviews. Toggle "New Seller" in the calculator to see the difference for your specific products. For the full programme rules see our Shopee seller fees guide.

Service Fees: Free Shipping vs Coins Cashback

Shopee's two big optional programmes each cost roughly 3% of the order total (rates vary by market and category, so check your Seller Centre dashboard for the exact number on your account). They are voluntary, but most established sellers join at least one because they boost conversion and search ranking inside Shopee:

  • Free Shipping Programme. You co-fund shipping subsidies for buyers. Items get a "Free Shipping" badge and rank better in Shopee search. Best for low-AOV categories where shipping cost is a conversion blocker.
  • Coins Cashback Programme. Buyers earn Shopee Coins on their order that they can redeem on their next purchase. Drives repeat purchase frequency, which is why beauty and FMCG sellers typically opt in.

Run the calculator with each programme on and off. If your margin after both is < 10%, you are sponsoring Shopee's growth more than your own — consider opting out of at least one, or raising your price by 5–7% to absorb the fee.

How to Reduce Your Shopee Fees

  • Use the new-seller window aggressively. The 90-day commission-free period at 500 orders/month is the easiest fee saving you will ever get on Shopee — plan your launch around it.
  • Climb to Preferred Seller status. Hit the 4.7+ shop rating, <2% cancellation rate, and order-volume threshold and you get up to 1% off commission across categories. For a S$100k/yr shop that is S$1,000 saved.
  • Pick your category leaf carefully. Shopee's commission table is leaf-level, not parent-level. The same product can sit under two adjacent categories with a 1–2% commission gap. Always list under the lowest-rate compliant category.
  • Opt out of programmes that don't move conversion. Many sellers leave both Free Shipping and Coins Cashback on by default. Test for 14 days with one off and look at conversion in Shopee Business Insights — if it doesn't drop materially, leave it off.
  • Don't pad shipping into price unnecessarily. Unlike Etsy, Shopee charges commission on the order total excluding Shopee-funded shipping subsidies. Padding shipping into the item price just inflates the commission base.

If you are running across more than one Shopee market — or stacking Shopee with Lazada, TikTok Shop or Shopify — fee-tracking gets messy fast. OneCart consolidates orders, fees, and net-of-fees revenue from all your channels into one dashboard so you can see real per-channel profitability instead of guessing.

Shopee Fees vs Other Marketplaces

Across SEA, Shopee's all-in take rate (typically 7–15%) lands below Mall-tier Lazada for fashion (8–13%) but above Non-Mall Lazada for electronics. TikTok Shop charges 5–9% referral plus optional Affiliate commissions, often making it cheaper than Shopee Mall but more expensive than Shopee Non-Mall. Etsy takes ~10% before offsite ads, eBay ~13.6%, and Amazon FBA 8–15% referral plus fulfilment. For a head-to-head on the two biggest SEA marketplaces, see our Lazada vs Shopee comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much commission does Shopee take from sellers?

Shopee commission is 1–10% in 2026, depending on your market, category, and seller tier. Singapore Non-Mall sellers pay 2–6%; Singapore Mall sellers pay 4–10.9%. Malaysia and Vietnam are at the lower end (1–4% for Non-Mall); Philippines and Indonesia are higher (4–8%). On top of commission you also pay a transaction fee of 1–4%.

Is Shopee free for new sellers?

New Shopee sellers get a 90-day commission-free window (up to 500 orders/month in 2026) on most markets. You still pay the transaction fee and any service fees you opt into, but commission is waived. After 90 days, standard commission rates apply automatically.

How is the Shopee transaction fee calculated?

The transaction fee is a flat percentage of the order total (item price + buyer-paid shipping). It varies by market: Singapore 2.18%, Malaysia 2.12%, Philippines 1.0%, Indonesia 1.1%, Thailand 3.21%, Vietnam 4.0%. It applies on every successful order, including during the new-seller commission-free window.

Can I avoid Shopee service fees?

Yes — both the Free Shipping Programme (~3%) and Coins Cashback Programme (~3%) are opt-in. Toggle them off in your Seller Centre at any time. The trade-off is lower visibility in Shopee search and a small drop in conversion, especially for low-AOV categories. Test for 14 days with each programme off and check conversion in Shopee Business Insights before deciding.

Are Shopee fees inclusive of GST or VAT?

For Singapore, all Shopee fees are inclusive of 9% GST — the percentage you see is what comes out of your payout, no further tax is added. Other markets work similarly with their local VAT/sales tax. Always check your monthly Shopee invoice (downloadable from Seller Centre) for the exact GST/VAT breakdown for your accounting.
