How to Update Inventory on E-commerce Platforms

Updating inventory across multiple e-commerce platforms can be complex, but OneCart simplifies this process by providing a centralized system that automatically syncs stock levels to all your connected channels.

Prerequisites

Before you can update inventory on your e-commerce platforms through OneCart, you need to complete these essential setup steps:

Step 1: Set Up Your Item Master

Your Item Master must be created in OneCart first. This is your central product database that contains all your SKUs and product information.

You need to connect your online stores (Amazon, TikTok Shop, Shopee, Lazada, Shopify, etc.) to OneCart.

Step 3: Import and Match Your Platform Listings

Your platform listings need to be imported into OneCart and matched to SKUs in your Item Master. The seller SKU on your platform listing should match the seller SKU in your Item Master.

How It Works

Once your prerequisites are complete, updating inventory becomes simple:

  1. Update stock in OneCart (using any of the methods available)
  2. OneCart automatically pushes the updated quantities to all connected platforms
  3. Your e-commerce platforms reflect the new inventory levels

Methods to Update Inventory in OneCart

OneCart offers four different ways to update your inventory:

  1. Manual Updates - Update individual SKUs one by one
  2. Bulk Upload - Overwrite all quantities using Excel
  3. Inbound Stock - Add new stock to existing quantities
  4. Outbound Stock - Reduce stock for sales or adjustments

Important Notes

  • Matching is critical: Ensure your platform listing SKUs match your OneCart Item Master SKUs exactly
  • Sync must be enabled: Without inventory sync turned on, changes won’t propagate to your platforms
  • Prerequisites are essential: All setup steps must be completed for the system to work properly
