What is the Historical Export?

The Historical Export feature lets you download an Excel file of your variant SKU data as it was at a specific date in the past. OneCart reconstructs the data from your change history (audit trail), giving you a snapshot of:

  • Product Code
  • Product Name
  • Variant SKU
  • Stock on Hand
  • Retail Price
  • Unit Cost Price

This is useful for reviewing past inventory levels, comparing month-end stock counts, or preparing internal reports.

Important: OneCart is not an accounting system. This export provides an estimated snapshot reconstructed from change history. It should not be used as an authoritative source for financial or accounting purposes.

How to Export Historical SKU Data

Step 1: Go to the Variant SKUs page

Navigate to View Items > View/Edit Single SKUs in the sidebar menu, or go directly to https://app.getonecart.com/variants.

Step 2: Open the Export dropdown

Click the Export Variants button at the top of the page. You will see three options: CSV Format, Excel Format, and Historical Export.

Click Historical Export to open the export modal.

Step 3: Select a date and export

In the Historical Variant Export modal:

  1. Select a date using the date picker. You can choose any date from June 2024 onwards.
  2. Check the acknowledgment box to confirm you understand this is an estimated snapshot.
  3. Click Export to Excel to generate and download the file.

The button will show “Generating…” while the file is being prepared. Once the download starts in your browser, you can close the modal.

Tips for Month-End Reports

If you need month-end data for an entire year, run a separate export for the last day of each month. For example:

  • January 2025: select 31 January 2025
  • February 2025: select 28 February 2025
  • March 2025: select 31 March 2025
  • …and so on for each month

Each export generates a separate Excel file that you can compile as needed.

Important Notes

  • History availability: Data is available from June 2024 onwards. Starting 1st March 2026, only 3 months of history will be available.
  • Estimated data: Values are reconstructed from your audit trail. If a field was never changed, the current value is used as the best approximation.
  • Product names: Product names reflect their current value, not historical — product names are rarely changed.
  • New SKUs: Variants that did not exist at the selected date will not appear in the export.
